Cloudhead wins VR Game of the Year!

The 2018 VR Awards ceremony took place October 16, 2018, in London, England and awarded the Vancouver Island-based Cloudhead Games one of the top honours.
Amongst a wide-range of categories highlighting the year in virtual reality, was the highly sought-after VR Game of the Year with 13 finalists up for the award. This award category focuses on the ingenuity and creativity it takes to make a successful game along with the innovative use of movement that makes an experience worthwhile. Winning the award was Cloudhead’s The Gallery – Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone.
Denny Unger, CEO and Creative Director of Cloudhead Games, had this to say: “Winning ‘VR Game of the Year’ was a surprise, an honour and a terrific validation for everyone at Cloudhead Games. We’ve been at this for 5 years, weathering VR’s ups and downs but our small team is extraordinarily passionate about VR and its future. With limited resources, we managed to compete directly with some of the industry’s biggest studios, whose team sizes and budgets dwarfed our own by many times. I think that speaks to the talent and dedication in-house but also to our focus on quality content built ‘from the ground up’ for Virtual Reality. We’re proud to represent BC in this growing industry and incredibly grateful for the mentoring/support of Innovation Island along the way.”
